Education & Leadership

Teens

Make Friends, Explore Your World.

There are over 8000 teen members at the Y, and hundreds of opportunities to make friends and help create activities you want to participate. Fitness equipment, exercise classes, basketball, swimming, dances, service learning volunteer projects, Camp Shady Brook adventure programs, and more are just a few things to explore.

Teen Leadership & Volunteering

You make it happen at the Y. Learn leadership skills and volunteer to help provide needed activities for your self and other teens. The Y is a place where the potential is limited only by your own imagination and energy. Organize a Teen Night, provide leadership for a Teen Service Project, or be part of a group planning a weekend of Fun and Adventure.

Teen Job Opportunities

The YMCA is one of the largest employers of teens in the area, and with the Y you'll be developing strong leadership and people skills. Perhaps you've volunteered or participated in swimming classes, camp, Counselor's in Training or other Y activities. Put your skills to use as a lifeguard (age 15+), swimming instructor (age 15+), or day camp counselor (age 16+), membership specialist (age 18+), or Camp Shady Brook counselor (age 18+).
